Default Help with ARB on board compressor

Hello everyone! Started to install the ARB air compressor 12v, I used the very helpful write up from WOL to assist with the install. So anyways, when it came to the 2 wires at the last part BLU-WHT and RED-YEL I ran the RED-YEL straight to the battery using an 18 gauge wire to run it and left the BLU-WHT alone atleast for now. So when I tested the compressor it runs for a few seconds then shuts off....if I leave it switched on it'll turn on and then shuts off again. Am I needing a thicker gauge wire for the power?...and also are there any other locations to splice the BLU-WHT wire?...which leads me to my other issue...how do you remove the lower dash panel? I have a 2011 unlimited sport 2 door with power windows and locks...and for the record I'm very unfamiliar with electrical issues. Please help!

I have no wiring diagram in front of me, but it seems the other wire would be a ground? When the pump reaches its set pressure it will shut off, then when air is used it will turn on again and pressure up, then shut off again.

have you tried airing up some tires. I have that one installed and it turns on for a few seconds first to build up pressure. Once that pressure is reached it shuts off. Use it and it should turn on and run while airing. If that doesn't work let us know.

My apologies, the RED-YEL is to be spliced with the ignition wire....but I ran it to the battery just constant power....the BLU-WHT is to be spliced to the dash illumination...and I have tried to use the compressor but it doesn't have enough air pressure to be used so I don't believe it's full.

This is correct. The compressor has a small air tank built in. For those of us that use it to power air lockers, it would constantly run otherwise. So, use it to air something up and it will keep running until the pressure builds again.

The blue/wht wire is just for the lights to go on when you turn your dash lights on. I never used that wire. Only place to connect for that is behind the center stack where the window controls are.

Which one do you have? I have the medium and can tell you it doesn't put out much air. Hook it to a tire, it will air it up. It can build plenty of pressure. My lockers run at 100 psi. You're thinking about CFM. That's why I use CO2 for airing tires up.

I'll try airing up the tires tomorrow, since I removed the wire for the battery already and I have to be at work in a few. Running it straight to the battery won't drain it right?...unless of course I have it running when off all the time?...and also....its not possible that the wire gauge isn't enough that could be causing it to shut off?

Mine runs for maybe 3 seconds and shuts off. The silver cylinder on it is actually a mini tank. Takes a few seconds to fill. So, it works like a regular garage compressor. Fills the tank to a certain PSI and shuts off. Again, the design is intended for use with air lockers. If it didn't have the little tank, it would run non-stop when your lockers are engaged.

I prefer to run the wire to ignition and not the battery. That way there is no chance of an issue. There is a wire in the a-piller that works and is easy to get to. Would take maybe 5 min to grab that one instead.

Guess that's what through me off...was expecting a constant running....which wire are you referring to in the air pillar?

Compressor wiring is very simple when you think about it. For the compressor itself it is one circuit with a switch (or a relay) breaking the circuit when you want it off, and a pressure switch breaking the circuit when it reaches a certain PSI.

My compressor was a very used unit and the harness was hacked to hell, I Had all sorts of issues getting it working until I just wired it all myself.
