Default Help with Backspacing

Need a second set of wheels/rims for my set of snow tires... So I need to know what size to buy for my stock JK... My snow tires are 31x10.50x15. So I know I need a 15' wheel, just not sure what else I need to know about which wheel to buy and not sure what Backspacing is. I also need help finding the cheapest source, I want the black wheels that are always the cheapest in the magazines. Thanks for the help.

I'm still running stock tires/wheels, so I can't help you in the deal-finding department, BUT:

Backspacing is the measurement between the lug nut holes on your rim and the edge of the "back" or "inside" of the rim.

Stock backspacing on your Jeep is currently 6.25" BS. This means that if you removed your wheel, laid it face down on the ground, and then measured from the stud holes to the edge of the inside of the rim (which is facing upwards in this scenario), it would be 6.25".

The more your tires are pushed towards the outside of the vehicle, the lower the backspacing (and, thus, the farther out your tires ride, giving it a more aggressive stance, which is why a lot of owners on here have put on rims with lower backspacing of around 4.5", or have added 1.5" wheel spacers to their stock rims).

Because you are only going to run 31's, you don't need to worry about backspacing, since stock Sahara and Rubi tires are 32's anyhow (larger tires like 35's can rub the wheel wells if the stock 6.25" backspacing is kept as is).

Pretty sure you're going to have to bump a set of 15's out a bit further regardless of tire width. It's an issue of the wheels touching your calipers. It depends on the wheel. My 16x8 Black Rock soft 8's hit my front calipers with 4.25" of BS.
