Default Help with bigger more aggressive tires please

Looking to upgrade my tires and wheels on my stock 2 dr JK. I'm currently running the stock 18" wheels and tires.

This is my daily driver... so don't want BIG FOOT tires, but would like a more aggressive look without sacrificing (within reason) the ride and noise level.

Probably going to have to replace the wheels (17") for a better tire selection, I'm OK with that.

I may do a minor lift as well, 2-4 inches.

Any advice, links to good sites, would be appreciated.

I would go with a 2 inch budget boost and try to find a set of rubicon wheels and tires. OR maybe take the tires up to 33x12.50 but then you would need wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels.

I'd say you should do a poll, but you're not sure what tires to even think about sounds like, so expect many many opinions on here.

Will start with my opinion , I absolutely love my BFG-KM2s 35x12.5x17s, they are as quiet as most ATs, excellent onroad/offroad & with a mere 2.5" budget lift you can clear and flex just fine. Now depending no your current gears you may consider 33's like stated above, I always forget that & the Rubi's have 4:10s which I can barely tell a difference between the 32's from the factory to these 35s. Although I will be regearing in the future while upgrading to 37s.

Sasquatch,

Are these your tires? Is a lift required?

Anyone have any experience with Mickey Thompson tires/wheels?

I'm looking at the new Baja ATZ Radials and the Classic II Wheels.

This combo looks to be aggressive but smooth on the highway.

33 Cooper STTs either 33x12.50 or if you want a more narrow tire go with 285/70/17.

I'm having a hard time deciding on 16 inch wheels or 17 inch wheels. Total price is about a $400 difference....

(285/75/16's are cheaper and 16 inch wheels are cheaper)

I like mine and the wife is happy with it also. This is not too aggressive and allows pretty normal highway driving characteristics with the off road performance I really enjoy! The only thing I would add to this is a new stabilizer but the stock is fine for now. I am one of the few that run a 15" wheel but your 18" would look great and should handle even better on the road with less lateral movement on the tire.

ProComp 8179 wheels 15 x 8
BFG 33" Mud Terrain

First, I would go with a 15x8 wheel. IMO it shows off more of the tire and lends to a more aggressive look without having to worry about the DD issue. It also is cheaper (both wheel and tire) and you may be able to buy something that you would not have looked at otherwise. On the downside it can limit the tire options.

Second, I would go with the 33x12.5x15 Cooper STT. great tire, great price.

Have a look at http://www.discounttiredirect.com for great pricing and selection. They have 10% off right now plus the $50 JK Forum discount. Also free shipping, mounting and balancing.

I also want to go with the 35 km2's ...do you have to run spacers with them??..or just 4" bs on the rims?I plan on going to 16" soft 8"s or similar rims from my stock rubi 17"'s
