Default Help! Death Wobble on a new lift.

Hey guys. Any ideas?

I have a DW and can't figure out what's wrong. I have a 3" FT lift with an adjustable trackbar and adjustable top control arms on '08 four door Sahara. Still have stock tires on the jeep. Waiting for new ones to arrive. We've loosened and torqued everything to specs three times now. Corrected the castor. And we still have a wobble. Any ideas on what we could do next to try and fix it? Would a new steering damper do anything?

Did you check your bolt holes to make sure they are not oval'd out... Prob somewhere on or near your track bar.

did you install your track bar in the proper direction and center your axle? did you set your caster correcly and what's your caster set to?
you can also do a quick check on alignment - look at the sticky on top of this Modified section:

MODIFIED TECH FAQ - Answers to the Questions Every Newbie Has - there is a great section on DW

take a look at WOL http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write-...-end-alignment
good luck

Is it a steering wheel shimmy that is speed dependent, flighty/jerky steering, or a violent shake that can only be brought under control by coming to a complete stop?

A shimmy is often an out of balance tire up front, web I they are still stock it can suddenly happen.

Flighty or jerky steering, that can sometimes feel like a shimmy is your front axle caster. I have the same kit, just installed, with no issues. What did you set your front upper control arms to? (length)

If it is true death wobble with violent shaking, then loosen everything, just one more time, while the vehicle is fully standing on it's own at right hight. Shake the shit out of the vehicle while everything is loose. Now tighten everything down. Start with tightening the control arms, front I think are 75ftlbs, rear ar****. Make sure you check that though. Next tighten your sway links, I don't remember what those were. Last do the track bar. 125 all around.

Someone also mentioned your trackbar orientation. Rubber bushings go to the frame mount, adjustable end towards axle. Did you put the spacers in? I know that's a stupid question but I almost forgot one... Lastly, check all your jamb nuts, make sure they are tight...

That's about all I got

Yes. Please explain your definition of "death wobble".

Does it occur from start up or at a specific speed or when you hit a bump or ??? Death wobble occurs - it isn't constant.

Oh it's definitely DW. Begins at highway speed after hitting a bump. Disappears once speed is down below 20-25. I'm having the castor checked right now. I'm not at home and don't have access to my tools/gear at home. Sears won't do the alignment. I only have adjustable arms on the front end. They want to sell me some bolt on kit for the lower arms to lengthen them.

I'll grab the specs here and post them in a few.
