Default Help with decision/performance of tires

OK, we ordered our rims Pro Comp 8179's, 17 inch....which tires would you all recommend?

We would prefer to get Mickey Thompson Baja Claws 35s, but they are not available from the people we want to buy from....they have 33s, but we know we would eventually want 35s, so we just won't go there. They also said they can't get the Toyos.

We can get the Nitto Mud Grapplers, but we have heard very mixed reviews about those, as they are very loud and do not wear very well.

We CAN get BF Goodrich KM2s 35s....and want to hear reviews on those especially.

I know this is a very broad question about tires, but any input you guys can give would be great! Thanks so much.

Yeah, I think they're quieter than my Rubicon's stock BFG M/Ts. I also have found them to be a very good tire and they ride and handle nicely.

I have heard mixed reviews about the Baja Claws. I only personally know one guy that runs them and he says they are a little loud, and wearing very quickly. He says they don't hook up on slick surfaces as well as he would like.

I've heard mainly great things about the Toyos. From what I have seen, these have great traction as well, but I've also heard they are heavy.

I am running the KM2's and absolutely love them. They hook up as good as any other tire or better that I have wheeled with and I'll be getting at least 60K miles on this set.(Wear quicker, I want 37's!!)

I've heard similar things about the Nittos as I have heard about the Mickey Thompsons.

I have about 2k miles on my 35x12.50x17 BF Goodrich KM2s, and one rock crawling trip to Cougar Buttes, a fairly new black diamond trail in the Johnson Valley Desert.

These tires run smoother than the old KM Mud Terrains, and I think are quieter. They balance up very nice, and off road are amazing. A month ago I was on the same trail with my 33 inch KMs, and these tires are much better.

I give the KM2 a big Thumbs up!

Very nice tire...
