Default Help with lift kit

I'm going to be installing a rock krawler 2.5" max travel kit and going to run KM2 35's.. This is going on a regular jk with 3.21 gears is this goin to be a problem for the gears? Will this setup be ok is should I think about regearing?

your title is a bit misleading.... you're looking for advice on gears if i'm reading that correctly.

in short your question can be answered here: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...276#post211276

your jeep will certainly run with the 3:21's. so, can you drive it that way? yes. is it fun? no!

you'll loose 6th gear altogether and 5th will be a rare occurrence. "crawling" in 4L is out of the question. IMHO there is no 4L with 3:21 and 35's.

i'm running 3:21 and 35's for another week and i'm damn glad to be rid of the high gears. even with a cold air intake, throttle body spacer, cat back exhaust and a Superchip programer my JK is a slug compared to a friend with 4:88 and 35's and no performance mods.

Ok thanks thank for the info... I'm thinking that I'm going to re gear to 4.10 before I put the lift an tires on.... Does anyone have a suggestion for gear with running 35s with a 2.5 lift?

If it's an auto, I'd suggest at least 4.88 but think you would be better off with 5.13's. If it's a manual I'd say 4.88's unless your planning on running 37's or higher in the future and some hard wheeling. As for 4.10's most here will tell you not to go lower than 4.88's, 4.10's will still be under powered performance wise. If you don't want to bump to 4.88's and it's mostly a DD with very occasional offroading, then I'd say 4.56's.... IMHO, go with 4.88-5.13's and you will not be disappointed...

Duh. But you can lift and keep stock tires. The title asked about lift but the question was about gearing. Misleading title.

i understand wanting to re-gear. it doesn't make much sense to go 4:10 now and then still need more gear after the lift / tires.

the 4:10 would be great for stock 32" tires, i.e. the Rubicon set up. guys with Rubicons and a taste for 35's end up with 4:88 or 5:13.... there is a good reason for that.

if you want an *all around* Jeep with 35" tires the 4:88 gears are going to really be the best choice.
a more *off-road* JK should get 5:13's for the best 35" performance.
for a *city* Jeep the 4:56 would work..... you'll not find a lot of guys with JK's and 4:56 gears.
1) i think they're not easy to come by these days
2) in the JK 4:88's make more sense for 35's.... which are super easy to fit

my opinions and all that.....
