Default Help me decide which gears

Hello everyone, maybe this thread has already been posted but I cannot find it. I was wondering which gears would be appropriate for my Jeep

Current Spec's

Standard 6 speed
35" Tires
Factory 3.73 gears

Since putting on these tires 6th gear is non existant on any type of hill and sometimes even 5th gear is not good enough.

Feed back will be greatly appreciated

5.13's what you have as options is not worth it IMHO

Go 5.13's...............don't bother with the ones you have listed. You will enjoy the pickup the JK NEVER had! I cant wait till I have enough coin to get ours done!

I have the same setup… most people, as is evident from the poll recommend 4.88s but I’m wondering if that’s overkill? Is anyone rocking the 35’s/6-speed/4.88 and can say what your RPMs in 6th gear are at 65 mph?

4.88s is the lowest numerically I would go. I have 5.13s on my 35s and love the extra power.

If 6th gear doesn't exist and sometimes 5th gear isn't good enough you have already ruled out 4.56s.

3.73 (Dif Ratio) / .84 (6th gear) = 4.44, the equivalent of your 1:1 5th gear.

4.56s are within 2.7% of where you already are on the downshift so that doesn't at all sound like where you want to be.

4.88s or higher are where you want to start.

If you want real results change the pull by adding 5.13's and even 5.38's.

Probally can take of 4.10 and 4.56 all together.

So any chance on an RPM estimate at 65/35’s/4.88? I think that would help me decide more than anything….

it seems a counter intuitive, but the lower gears get the RPMs up in the power range that the 3.8 likes, so it stays in OD on the highway, and you get better milage, better in town performance, and better wheeling performance
I would go 5.13 or 5.38
