Help me understand this...
Ok, riddle me this. Let's say a certain tire company prides its self on running "true to size", like a 35 " tire is 35" tall. Regardless of rim size. Why is the 17" tire more expensive than the 15" tire? Obviously, the hole in the 17" tire is larger than the one in the 15" tire, but that also means that the 15"tire actually has more rubber in its construction. More material for less money? That's bad business. 

I agree that is bad business. And to say "because they can" is a poor answer IMO.
I would have to say that its possible that they sell more tires for 15" rims than they do 17" so there fore the production run is more for 17". Thats purely speculation though.
