Help a newbie lift a Rubi?
I am seeking advice on lifting my 08 jku rubi on a budget and in stages.. so to speak. I bought it used and as far as I can tell it is stock, with the exception of some 1 inch terra flex coil spacers. My plan: New wheels and tires. Done and done. Was able to go with 35s and no rubbing because of improved backspace on the rims and the coil spacers. 2.5 inch lift. Planning on Rubicon Express coil lift.. maybe TerraFlex (not positive itâs worth the extra money). New shocks. Thinking Bilstein 5100s. So yes.. Iâm a total nooob. But I think Iâm safe in assuming that just because the 35s fit with no rubbing doesnât mean I wouldnât wreck sh⦠if I offroaded it. Fenders/Bumpers for example. My plan is to keep it on the pavement until everything is done. That said⦠Can I do the lift without replacing the shocks? I was hoping I could do the lift and not the shocks and then when I get the shocks add the 1 inch spacer back in to up the lift to 3.5 instead of 2.5 without the spacer. Does this sound feasible? Or just plain dumb?
Jedg,
Thanks for the post. I actually read it a while back when searching for posts on lifts an the like. I know the what lift posts are played out. I know what I want to do and why. What I was wanting to know is if the lift can be done prior to changing out the stock shocks.

Can it be done. Yes. Is it a good idea? Not in my opinion.
You could use shock extensions (relocation) to make up for the fact that your shocks are too short. That may be a waste of money.
I vote save until you have the cash for what you want.
