Help! Push button start?
I have been dealing with the dreaded click no start issue for several months. I think the range sensor finally gave out. Will not start. So… I am trying to wire in a momentary push button start to bypass the trs to start the jeep. Has anyone done this that can help me with the wiring?? My jeep has been down for a week.

I have the click no start and had the tipm rebuilt which cost a lot , got rid of other issues but not the click one. So pull the starter relay out of the fuse box . Take two long wires and strip the ends. Twist to fine points so you can put one wire end into the always live hole. The other wire end goes into the solenoid hole. Also unhook battery. The always live wire should have a fuse installed. Then run wires down the inside of the passenger fender around door frame across top of dash to drivers side. Pull side cover off dash and also drill a hole into dash to mount push button. First connect wires to button and pull thru the hole and fasten. Make sure all wires are placed not to get pinched etc. Put side cover back on and connect battery. To start you turn key and hold to start position. Push the button still holding key and as engine starts release both at same time. I’ve had this for two months. Perfect
if you want pictures send me your email address as I can’t seem to upload any to this response

Also I put some electrical tape where I pushed the wire ends into the holes. Just to keep them apart and in place. I also took side cutters and notched a spot at the side of the fuse box to pull wires thru so the fuse cover will close properly.
Pictures would help but I can’t seem to upload. Email me at Warwickavenger@gmail.com if any are wanted

Ok. Switch installed. Battery crapped out, tested at only 9 CCA vs 650 as advertised. Napa warrantied a new battery. All was good, started right up!
Now I have developed a new issue. After driving, turn it off to run into a store or something, come back and it won’t restart. No clicking or anything! If I wait 30-45 minutes, it will start with the button. I’m thinking something to do with the anti-theft?? Any thoughts??

Disconnect the 12v wire from TIPM and connect to the battery. Make sure your turning and holding the key at start position before pushing button.
Also put a brake light type bulb inline with the wire going from button to the tipm. That will tell you if power is going to solenoid when button is pushed and your getting the click

Better than a meter. Put bulb on dash. When button is pushed it lights up. Also in mine when I got a click my bulb would be bright barely a second then go dim. When it started bulb when be bright till button was released. My thought is that that the module on the drivers side that is wired to the TIPM thinks the Jeep has started and is cutting the power too early. Maybe corrosion
hi there it’s pouring outside so I will take pictures tomorrow. Also I recently changed the range sensor. I now have back up lights and cruise but no normal start
