Default check your shock length

you can pull one of the new shocks, compress it completely and measure the length compressed. That length less the height of your lift puck should equal pretty closly the length of a stock shock compressed. If your new shocks have been bottoming out the horizontal mounting bracket with the 2 holes will probably be bent....are the black bushings on the shock shaft supposed to be left on these shocks after installation? Do they take the place of extended bump stops? These bushings would definitely limit the shock travel by the same amount of their height, causing the shock to bottom out early. I've changed scores of bent shocks over the last 30 years and have never seen bushings like these on any of them....of course i haven't seen everything- theres always something new coming down the pikeLOL

yeah those black bushings are in place of bump stops. Do you think its bad that the axle mounts for the shocks are bent? i tried taking them off and wont be able to short of using a pry bar. I may just try fixing those and properly torquing them as rough country originally told me 90 ft/lbs and thats what caused the mounts to bend.

I don't think thats whats causing the thump. Did you add bigger tires at the same time? I added 33s the same day and am wondering if that is contributing.

You sure you put the sleeves in? I torqued mine down and the mounts didnt bend because the sleeves are in there....

I had the same problem except I was using the teraflex BB and it was the rear passenger Bump stop the was mounted on the top of the axle. I mounted it backwards and it was making contact with the rear track bar.

I called rough country and everything is tight but i am still not sure if the rear springs are seated properly. Anyone have pics of a properly seated rear coil with a spacer? since there are no stops for the pigtail in the rear, i dont have a good reference like i did in the front. How should it look on the rubber stop? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: well the shocks are definately not bottoming out but does anyone think that the lower shock mounts are too bent? pics are on second page and in my gallery. I may try and bend them back when i get the time. Anyone think it is serious or am i just being paranoid?
Dont know if this will help or not, I dont know how well you checked your right rear shock, but just to be sure, check and make sure the track bar bracket is not making contact with the shock when it compress' or you articulate the back side up. If it is making contact the shock will have damage to the side mounted towards the inside, if needed remove the shock to check.

I couldnt see a problem with the shock but I would take a look at the rear track bar and see if anything has come in contact with it. Seems to be a common problem. Particularly the passenger side but could be either or.
