Default HELP-Ruby 2.5 lift front driveshaft boot interference

We're in the process of installing a teraflex 2.5 lift with coils and we noticed that there is an interference between the front drive shaft boot and the shield that covers the exhaust crossover pipe. There is not so much interference that the shaft rubs, but the boot definately drags. The interference is only when the jeep is on the garage lift with no load on the suspension. (There are no front shocks on it at this time as we found out one of the factory shocks is leaking so instead of extensions, we're ordering longer shocks tomorrow) This is a 09 2 dr Ruby SWB with 6 spd. Other components that we have put in are a set of Curry front lower control arms, a JKS front adj track bar and a 1" spacer to level out the rake after the ARB bumper with winch is installed. I know this is an extreme condition to have interference but I know one commonly occuring case will be when I have the oil changed, the boot will be laying against the hot shield. I've not found any complaints like this thru the search function so is this normal, is the 1" spacer adding to the problem or is this a unique problem? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Default Shouldn't be a problem

Some have complained that the boot was wearing on that crossmember at extreme articulation, however, in the scenario you described (oil change on lift) it should not be an issue. Once the shocks are installed, they will prevent the axle from dropping as much as you are experiencing now. They have built in stops that will limit the downward travel of the axle (which also prevents the springs from dropping out). I have the same kit with the Teraflex shocks and have not experienced any rubbing on the boot. Hope this helps.

Very normal for autos. (contacting on either the crossmember/skid or the corner of the transmission) Don't recall seeing any manuals with the issue though. Some trim, some remove the crossmember (and the consensus is to put it back on and trim) and some go to narrower aftermarket driveshafts. Can the area that is contacting be trimmed on yours?

Thanks guys for the help....I didn't think about the shocks limiting the downward travel.....that may solve it......as far as trimming it, possibly i could peen in the shield over the exhaust pipe for a little more clearance.....I think I'm going to try the shocks first and see where that leaves me......thanks again for the help, much appreciated!

Even with the shocks limiting downward travel you will have your drive shaft will make contact with the tranny skid. I would just remove it. I didn't and tore my boot the first time wheeling and ended up replacing the shaft. I am using the shock extensions which limit the travel more than most aftermarket shocks do.

trim plat or get an aftermarket driveshaft is your solution. The shocks aren't going to limit down travel enough
