Default Help with Tires?

Hey guys looking for some help here for tire sizes. I will be getting BF KM2's but I am not sure which size to get. 35's are prob a better for an extreme off road vehicle but mine is a DD and I don't want to re-gear. Along with the tires, I am looking at ordering Pro Comp 7089 5x5 - 16x8 - 4.5 backspacing. You can see the wheels below at Quadratec. I am also doing an OME lift.

So the question is which one do I get? Any advice on the entire set up would be great. I thought I was ready to order this stuff a month ago, but ran into the tire size issue.

BF KM2

Choice 1 - 285/75R16 Load Range E

Choice 2 - 305/70R16 Load Range D

Go for the wider tire 305's...it will look better IMHO. The 4.5" BS you will have plenty of room for a wider tire.

Are 305's wider? Anyone tell me which tire to get? 285 70 17 (which i think is almost a 33) or 305 65 17..both are BFG AT tires...I want a 33...is the 305 just wider..or is it taller too?

First number is the width of the tire tread. Second is the height of the sidewall. Third is wheel size.

Get the 35s, I have them on my DD with an auto trans, after I got the AEV procal the shift points are much better (4.10s).

i have 3.21 gears on a 2 door 6 speed . i just installed 33x12.50x17 mtz on over the weekend and i love the look and feel of these tires . although with this combo i do have to rev her up a bit more and shift more often (will enjoy it more with a new exhaust though) but all in all i'm very pleased with this choice , just waiting on my teraflex 2.5 coil lift to ship out ..

If you want 35's the 315/75R-16 are 35x12.50.

Mounted on ProComp 7089 16x8 5x5 4.5 bs vs stock

Front View -- They stick out the wheel wells.

Before and after..

I have the 285 75/16 and are quite happy, but I am not mudding either. The extra inch of width will stick out of the fender well a bit more which is why I stuck with the 285s. 285 will give you 11.25" width 305 will get you 12.5". If you will spend any time in the mud, you will appreciate the width. If your looking for forest roads the narrow tires work real nice. But truthfully either will do the job.

I was considering 285/75R16 or 305/70R16 as well and have decided to go with 285/75R16. Wider does have the look advantage IMHO, but seems the 285/75R16 should perform better on non muddy trails and in the snow.
