Default Help with tow hook stud

I installed my winch tonight and when I was removing the bumper some dumb$&!* cross threaded one of the nuts on the studs that hold the stock tow hooks on. This is the first time I have taken it off so I assume this happened when it was put together at the factory unless the dealer took the bumper off for some reason. Any ways were can I get a new stud or should I just run it like this and only use the other side if using a single hook till I get a new bumper with different bolts, or should I go ahead and pull all the studs and put grade 8 bolts all the way around now???

It's hard to tell in the pics but the nut that is laying on the floor still on part of the stud is almost off but at that point it just spun and would not come off or go back on so I had to cut the stud which sucked.

If you can't get a stud and nut locally, PM me and I will send you one. These self-locking nuts require a little WD-40 on them to assemble or disassemble, the threads have a tendency to ''seize'' and strip when turned on and off more than once. The threads will look good until the nut pulls the threads off the stud down towards the end.

Thanks tinman I will try tues and see if I can find one local. Your right about the wd40 i used it on the other 7 and had no problems I was just assuming this one was stripped but sounds like this is common problem I may just press them all out and put new studs or use grade 8 bolt I really wouldn't want the threads to stip off a tow hook when I'm trying to pull someone or get pulled by someone or the winch.

You might be able to go to a auto parts store and match a wheel stud up. That would require finding a REAL parts man who actually knows how to READ, though.

Thanks scotty but I'm pretty sure I can find some sort of stud to replace it here local and if not I'll put grade 8 bolts in both hooks and leave the rest of the bumper off I'm actually starting to like it this way and thanking maybe if I build some sort of cover over the front just to hide the sway bar motor that I will really like it but anyways, thats the plan.
