Default Help! Transfer Case - small crack (suggestions)

My buddy has a 99 Jeep - he was leaking oil, low and behold he took off his transfer case and he just told me that he has a small small pitted crack in it (less than a 1/4 inch) He describe it to me as pin hole size. (pic attached)

Is there anything he can do to temporarily fix this - he only has one car (the jeep) and doesn't really have the time or disposable income to just get work done this week. He is hoping there is a bandaid he can put on it for a few weeks. He knows that ultimately he needs to fix it correctly but he just can't right now…..thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Bobby

I repaired a casting defect (bubble) in my 1979 10th Anniversary Edition Trans Am engine block with Marine-Tex. He might give that a try. It is so hard that it can be drilled and tapped after curing. Buy it at local marine stores. He'd want the gray for best results.

You might want to try JB Weld, the 2 part epoxy. It is liquid as opposed to a putty, so it may fill in any cracks a little better.
Just make sure everything is nice and clean before you apply
