Default Help with Winch Running Backwards

I have searched the JK-Forum and called Warn for support, but have not been able to find an answer to my issue.

I installed my new Warn M-8000 this weekend, and it runs the opposite direction of the button pushed. I have verified the wiring twice. (There are only 5 wires: Red-Positive, Black-Negative, and three short color coded wires for the motor leads)

Has anyone else seen this, and if so. what did you do to fix the problem?

Thanks

If all wires check out, the solenoid is wired backwards or the plug for the controler is.

Could the cable have been started in the wrong direction?

Okay. It's working in both directions so that's good. Maybe the remote was wired backwards or labeled wrong. Either way, I'm sure warn will get you going in the right direction.

if the winch is working both ways just let all the line out and when it gets to the end just keep going till it pulls all the cable in and problem solved

Sounds like the cable was wound the wrong way. Does it come off the top or bottom of the drum?

Warn got back with me, and suspects the controller.
A new one is on the way.

I was respooling my winchline just the other day and realized that I'd indavertently gotten it going the wrong direction on the spool. Just as others have pointed out: Wound it back out, got it going the correct direction and everything was hunky-dory after that. Why won't this fix yours, Doug?
