Default Hemi Hood Heat Reduction Data

Anyone running a Hemi with a heat reduction hood that has data on the Intake Air Temps before and after the hood install?

My 5.7 isn't running hot (Coolant temp wise), but my INTAKE AIR TEMP (IAT) is excessively hot with the factory hood and metal fender liners.

I didn't realize it until I started playing with the HP Tuner... the hotter the intake air temp, the more the computer retards the timing. I have the tuner set to ignore the IAT, but I'd rather find a hood to help vent some of the heat.. and possibly use a snorkel to improve the incoming air temp. (With the JSS Hemi kit, it is basically a cold air intake... but doesn't really have good flow to get cool air).

I'm looking at the Smittybilt SRC Stingray hood. I like the look of it, and it's at a decent price.

Any data/info would be appreciated!

We dont have temp data but a customer out in CA reported that his Hemi JK had overheating issues in rush hour traffic which were alleviated with the addition of our hood.

I have my air box sealed against the hood which is AEV and my temps hold pretty steady. You can feel the difference just touching the hod vents where the air box is. I believe Alasha's hood is better though especially at slow speeds.

See that's the issue. It's not the temps as far as overheating (Coolant Temps)... it's the Intake Air Temp.

I feel like this is probably key to solving some of the issues. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the metal airbox that comes with the JSS kit can be sealed very well. I may end up going with the AEV Vent/louver right over the airbox area to see if that helps.

This is from a customer with a 5.3 LS:
"In stop n go traffic (mostly stop) outside air temp was 54, intake air temp crept up to 120. 20 seconds at speed it dropped to 68"

Heat reduction hoods or even just hood vents on factory hoods are never a bad on idea on these vehicles even with factory engines, especially if you live in a hot climate. High intake temps can lead to pinging before it would otherwise, and hot under hood temps are hard on electrical systems, connecters, intake tubes, vacuum hoses, ect.
