Hemi question
This engine is for sale in Europe and because the Ripp upgrade is not compatible with LPG I'm leaning towards a Hemi swap.
I'm totally new to the swap story, but I found out I need to buy a AEV kit to get the swap done.
Can anyone tell me what Jeep is in the picture (only pic available)and if the AEV kit is always needed? For example this; is a donor car with the computer and everything in it and it's a Jeep. Is it wrong to assume I only need a few new things like motor mounts etc.? I also need to know if the transmission in compatible?
Thanks,

Doen't anybody know what car this is, or has the anwer to my questions?
I know it's common in the US to do a Hemi swap and therefore maybe I'm asking stupid questions, but over here I don't think there are much JK's with a hemi. So limited to no info over here.

If you go to the AEV site under their hemi kits, and click on the installation tab, they have pretty detailed instructions on what it takes to install it. This will give you a good idea on what is involved.

Burnsville Offroad also makes a good kit.
You can do it without buying a kit, the fella in the thread below recently did, it just takes innovation and maybe a little more time. Think he says he has only $6500 into the swap;

You cannot use the JK tranny. I would not trust it to hold up anyway. The computer, motor mounts, main wiring harness are replaced. Several hoses and lines (A/C) etc have to be modified or replaced. I doubt the stock 3.8 exhaust will line up.
I believe the Grand Cherokee is the engine of choice because the accessories (A/C pump, alternator, etc) work and fit with the swap. Using a car hemi, some accessories need to be replaced. At least, thats how it was a couple years ago.
Check your local vehicle codes and or inspection requirements. If, like in Michigan you have no vehicle inspections so anything goes, a V-8 is quite a nice improvement to a JK in my opinion.
If you search around there are some pretty good threads on here created by people who did the swap themselves.

, but there are so many threads on this topic that I don't no where to start. And I'm not familiar with all the engine and tranny numbers.
Youll keep the transfer case. You wil need 5.7 or 6.1 (widely used) and the 545rfe transmission. Depending on the year of the engine, that will determine your complexity. Jeep speed sells complete do it yourself kits. Hotwire auto also sells the electronics and small parts.

You can use that motor, though most installers and myself will say find a newer model. If you can get an 09 and up you will have virtually no issues installing, and by that I mean nearly all lines will be in the right place, ie a/c, power steering. If you are really serious about it give Todd a call at Jeep Speed Shop. They sell an install kit for every motor that can fit and very competitively priced. I got several parts from him, while sourcing the rest myself. I didnt save a ton by doing that myself, in hindsight getting the kit from someone is way less hassle.
