Default Hemi swap idea

I have 2 sons who'll be needing a vehicle soon. Has anyone bought a new waggoneer or whatever is the cheapest truck with a hemi in it, and swapped the hemi into their JK and the 3.8 into the waggoneer?

There's supposed to be some Stim-U-Less plan tax credit for buying a new vehicle which is why I was wondering about this idea.

Ouch...that hurts just thinking about it...brain damage.

That would be a huge project and a complete waste of money. While the Hemi would slide into the JK with the assistance of the 5K install kit from AEV, good luck trying to adapt the JK 3.8 and tranny into the Grand Cherokee, Commander or any other vehicle. There are no conversion kits out there for the 3.8.

It would be MUCH cheaper to buy a JK and just convert it with a used Hemi.

The support for the 3.8 isn't there yet, so you would need to program the computer, make the wiring harness, and you would need to fabricate something for the washer fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, etc... You would be better off getting a totaled vehicle with the 5.7.

Thanks for talking me down off the ledge.

Not that I was gonna jump, but I was trying to skin the cat differently. I want a hemi. But not at "any cost".

Thanks.

You know that the Hemi is around the corner there. I think Moab would be cool in a Hemi

What about renting a car with a HEMI, swapping it out and just claiming it had a 3.8 when you rented it. Or better yet, not put a engine back in the rental at all then tell the rental company it never had an engine. Sell the 3.8 and you win both ways.
