An MDS Hemi will get 20MPG on the highway in a JK - My neighbor has one and he gets 19, so I see that claim as more than reasonable.

Good luck with that.

I get about 3 mpg less with the 6.1/auto than the 3.8/stick got. Anywhere between 13 and 17 mpg on 93 octane. I do not have the willpower to drive it like a grandma, I admit.

My daily commute is about 16 miles. I don't really care about gas mileage.
I've done a lot of research on the hemi swap and never considered the 6.1 (always the 5.7). the 5.7 can use my existing Tranny and T-case (I have the 6-speed). Can the 6.1 do the same?

Get near 3.8 stock mileage is outstanding since other mods only bring the factory mileage down.

Also anyone in SoCal had a swap done at Evo? About what did it cost?
I'm getting a Hemi 6.4 VVT swap at EVO right now. In fairness to all parties, you should ask EVO for a quote. I'm getting many other mods done at the same time which I'm sure has affected the price.

With a 6.4VVT and 5.13 gears on 35", I am getting around 12 MPG. Could I get better? Probably. But, the power is just too fun not to use.

That's what I'm waiting on.....the fun factor........but the build time is killing me with anticipation....
I'm going with 5.38 gears on 40's.

I think the 6.1 bell housing pattern is that same as the 5.7 /shrug. But the 6.1 is more expensive. I just got a good deal on one out of a wreck with 1000 miles on it, liked it better than the 340 HP 5.7 I had planned on for not much more money.

I understand using the stock T-case (at least for a while heh). But even if I could have used my stock 6 speed, I would not trust it to tolerate 400 HP. Reccommend something stronger.

I have got 17 mpg on mine on the highway as long as there is not lots of head wind. I find that acceptable, no worse than pickups I have had. By the time I need fuel, I also need to get out and stretch anyway.

Around the back roads 13-14 mpg behaving....sometimes 12. Little 90" wheelbase devil just too fun not to rev.

F*ck it, I am getting old. But I am not going quietly.

Haha, thanks for the info. I called EVO today and they said install is $3800+parts. Now all I need to do is find a source for engine/trans.......
P. S.
I can't wait to feel the pushed into the seat sensation again. (miss my 5.0)

Apart from engine / trans / t-case, don't forget you also need the conversion kit which will run you from $4K to $6K depending on which one you choose. The $3.8K you mentioned is only labor.
