Default Hey guys

Hey guys,
My brother has a 2008 Jeep Wrangler X, its a silver 4 door, Auto and has the 3.8l V6. He doesn't know much about cars and vehicles so I will be the one who gets him the parts and doing the installs for the most part. So far I just installed a Cobra Cb with a 4 foot Firestick II on the spare tire mount. It is his first car and I wheel with him too. I wheel an 06 Hummer H3, has 35's a bunch of skids leveled out, Roof Rack etc. For the so cal guys I run up in gorman, Frazier Park, local trails, Mojave (Last Chance Canyon) and basically anywhere and any time I get the chance and may be going to Moab with a Hummer group before EJS Week. I am on the hummer forums and hate the newbie questions many give when they first join. I read all the sticky's on lifts, tires, etc. I do have a question though. My brother wants to get a simple 2 1/2 in Budget Boost with a 1 in Body lift and run 35's. I have heard of the death wobble before on some jeeps and was wondering if a simple lift like that would give him the death wobble. Also what is a good budget boost and a good body lift you guys run. Thanks a bunch, Chris

Seriously, Any lift can give you a DW. In fact they can happen on stock vehicles.

Make sure the lift is done correctly. Review the forum for directions. Not tightening all connectors to specs (120 Pounds) while on the ground is probably the biggest single cause of D-Wobble.

You may catch a bit of ribbing, don't worry about it. I'm glad to see someone that actually wheels one. There is a guy on here running a lift similar to that and ran 37's, he is now up to 40's. Pretty good deal, so 35's won't be a problem. As far as what brand of lifts, I have Rubicon Express, my friend wheels with a Full Traction setup, and of course TeraFlex is awesome too. Most people I see with body lifts are using M.O.R.E. brand. I don't know who has the best BB though. Good luck!

If you want to, you can find Planman's build and read up on his. As far as DW, usually it is due to the trackbar mount hole getting elongated. The SS masks it until it gets out of control. There is actually a great write up about how to diagnose DW and fix it. It even goes so far as to diferentiate between DW and a shimmy. Proper installation procedures seem to be the best way of preventing it.

I'd even go so far as to say I like the H3... sortof, a little bit, maybe...

Thank you, I figured I would but I am used to it. Its unfortunate to have a group of pavement pounding Chrome fanatics that give us the bad rep but we have thousands of guys who wheel hummers all over the country just like you guys except your pack of wheeling jeeps are in the millions. I will look those up right now
