Hi-Lift Jack question?
I'm looking at getting one of these to assist in changing a flat while offroading, just wondering what you guys mount it to without damaging the bumpers, etc.? I was looking at the optional wheel attachment but wouldn't you have to lift the wheel quite high to get a jack stand underneath? Thanks.

once you use one a few time they become priceless
I haven't yet ordered an aftermarket bumper, I'm waiting on the Spittybilt SRC bumpers. Do you think this would be a suitable attachment? I still worry about bending the attachment points on the bumper.

Oh, allright. I had just assumed the high lift might be easier to use on a non-flat or soft surface than the standard jack. But in reality i want it to use it as a budget winch as well, so I'm still going to go ahead and get it. Thanks for the answers.
Now, if you use the factory scissor jack under the control arm mounts on the front axle or the differential in the rear or even the shock mounts in the rear, you should be able to lift your tire safely off the ground and with no problem at all even if you are running a 35" tire. Trust me, I have done it for years and I'm sure I could do this with a 37" tire as well.

I dunno... the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of carrying a jack stand. While it's challenging trying to figure out how to carry the HiLift externally on a stock JK, there's plenty of room inside the Unlimited for the jack stand. I 've always been a little nervous about scissor jacks under the axles. I remember one rainy day when the truck slipped off the jack due to a little too much side to side action just as I slid the tire onto the lug nuts. I still look at my hands in gratitude thinking about a slip seconds earlier.
My next investment will be a Hi-Lift Jack...Last weekend, I took my 8 month pregnant wife and two city slicker friends from Philly up to Kingston Peak, CO (simple trail) and managed to get hi-centered when manuevering a turn...Snow storm on the horizon, not an ATV or vehicle in sight and a snow storm just over the mountain peak. I had to get crafty with the scissor jack on the side step...fortunately we were soon on our way, but had the scissor jack buckled while balancing on rocks, we'd been in for a long walk! Hi-Lift, here I come.
