Default highway tires

I just had a tire blowout on my '07 wrangler w /47,000 miles. It's time to buy new ones. And, as much as I'd like to humor myself by saying I want a set of bad-ass off-road tires, I spend most of my time on the highway and, while I love going offroad, I don't do it as much as I'd like to. I've got 4.10 gears and would like to go up to a 33" tire. What would be a good comfortable, quiet highway tire? How will going from the stock size to 33's affect my mileage? If all other things are equal, I'd prefer something that would perform offroad, but something that I can put a bunch of miles on and is good for the road really makes more sense.

If you want long life onroad, BFG AT's would get my vote. Going from.SRA's to 33 inch AT's will probably cost you a half MPG.

I have two sets of Dueler AT Revo's. On a 2000 Ranger 4x4 and a 2002 Tacoma V6 4x4. They never gave me a stitch of trouble except for one flat that was totally my fault. I was kicking along to fast (mad at being cut off at a locked FS gate) on some pretty sharp rocks, running at 40 psi. To it's credit, it did not destroy the tire after running on it for a couple miles of gravel roads that way and was a simple patch.

They have great wet and snow traction, look decent and wear really well.

I have the "factory Duelers" on my Jeep now (second set put on by prior owner) and they must have gone 40,000 plus since they are recently new, but they are NOTHING like the commercial Revo's that I bought for my other rigs. These Duelers look like car tires to me.

bridgestone makes a darn good tire. look for anything with UNI-T and you should be alright.

i'm thinking of putting the firestone destination a/t's on my jeep. similar to the dueler's but i think looks more aggressive.

I found the Toyo M/T's and Cooper STT's I run on my vehicles just as quiet if not quieter than Dick Cepek FC-II's and BFG A/T's I ran on my work pick-ups.

If you are set on a good A/T highway tire that will get you through alot of off-road conditions as well look's good and wear well I would really consider the Dick Cepek FC-II's.

I put Yokohama 225/70/16 Geolander AT/S on my wife's Honda Element EX, and they ride quiter and feel better than the smaller stock factory tires. lost about 4mpg from 26mpg to 22mpg.

So, while I'm not positive yet, but think I'm going with 265/75/16 AT/S when I need new tires on the JK.
