Stalled in traffic because of it?
welll, I have hill start assist and I personaly love it. I was on the edge of a cliff one time in Moab and it made me feel a whole lot better knowing I had a little buffer. but as for traffic, I hardly notice it around town.

Maybe I didn't understand what you said but... why are you waiting to take off? The hill start assist lasts 3 seconds and that 3 seconds is to allow tards that can't drive a chance not to roll back into the dick who's riding the tards bumper.
I have it and I don't wait for it to disengage before driving off so why do you? I don't even notice its there when on the street but I like the added benefit of having it off road.

I turned mine off. The instructions are in the owners manual.

I too have been driving manuals for +25 years.

When I got my JK, I stalled it a couple of times from stop. I disabled Hill hold feature and haven't stalled it from a stop since.

I bet that leaving this feature on will cause extra brake pad use.

am i missing something here? i thought the hill start assist was only in 4-lo? In 4 low you do not need to depress the clutch. so if you are on a steep hill and have stalled, you can just crank the engine over, and the JK will start to climb the hill as it turns over.

hill assist is available in all transfer case ranges. It's extremely useful off road. If you've not found it nice to have off road, you're not wheelin hard enough! I can work a clutch pretty well, but i do love the fact i can have that few seconds of stability when on a obstacle or in a bind on something. Works very well.

Not sure about your specific situation in Moab but just so you no, when you are in 4wd low, you do not need the clutch to start the jeep, just have it in 1st gear, turn the key and it will start climbing. No clutch, no rollback. Works like a charm. And I like HSA. It helps on road as well as off.
