I found one on ebay, but it's not for a 2017 JKU

where can you get these?

Not sure. I have never seen a hood ajar indicator on a wrangler in my life and I hope it stays that way.

I'm guessing that you might want it for more than just that, but if only for a hood light, it's pretty easy to just wire an LED strip or whatever you like to a panel switch. I do agree it's handy to have a light there under the hood in general. I have one wired to a rocker switch on my sPOD.

You can use any generic sensor to work. I've got an aftermarket alarm installed and they put the sensor up at the hinge to determine if the hood is open. It's a viper system so DEI should have the parts you need if you'd like to add the sensor for a light.

There is a bracket that comes with it, otherwise I'd just get the $8 switch off amazon or ebay.

There's a pinch seam opposite of where the Rubicon lockers go, the piece goes right there and you're set. If you want factory then you can certainly buy the $300 piece and mount it up by the windshield washer reservoir as the factory had it.
