Took my jeep in for one of the most recent recalls and the mechanic during his test drive seen the hood jumping and replaced the latches under warranty with new ones and no more hood jumping

I'm going to keep an eye peeled for this problem. It seems to crop up after lifting, which I'll be doing next weekend. I will say that the latches on my '11 are MUCH tighter than the latches I've had on the previous '99 TJ I had. I think the rubber will stretch some after time and also because the hood is at less of an angle after the lift creating less downforce.

taking out the spring didnt work for me, still bounced.

Woods has a nifty little idea that helped, but didnt totaly remove the float for me. It helped tons, just not 100% fix.

iive been thinking about these, does the cable flop around and hit the paint? i realize its got a rubber or plastic coating but if it touches the paint sooner oor latter it gonna start to wear on it?!

Until you implement a preferred fix, two 11" zip ties will stop the hood dance. Mine have been on for nearly four years--had to replace a time or two because they do eventually deteriorate and break.

I just installed the Daystar hood wranglers and they work great. I really wanted the Drake latches but I can buy 5 sets of the daystars for what they cost.
