I like the chain idea, I too work in a shady neighborhood, and would like something to deter the quick thief.

Hey that hood chain lock looks like a great alternative. Let us know how it goes if you get it.

I just installed one from Rugged Ridge (after tossing the one from Quadratec in the garbage bin), bought it @ jeep4x4center. Works great.

Default Hood Lock

Do ya have a picture of it installed? Whats the install like. Looks like you have to drill some holes but I might be wrong.

Is this the one you got? http://www.jeep4x4center.com/popup.asp?number=11252.05

If it is, there's bigger pic at http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?pid=1125205 It is cheaper too.

I ordered one for my JK, still on order. I bought it from 4WD.com and the part # is HL5. We will see how it goes when I get it. It is made especially for the JK.

I installed my AEV hood this week now the HL5 hood lock wont fit, maybe I'll go with Rugged Ridge any pictures from an installed one yet.

I'm having my powerplant installed right now with an optima battery and am wondering about a lock as well.
