Default HOT Engine melting stuff inside?

So I've noticed lately that my little temp needle gets up to the 3/4 mark and sits there. The cold a/c will also cut out from time to time then come back again.

Now it has been 98 degrees here lately but I don't think that is the issue. I installed a tranny cooler a month ago or so and have since been wheeling with it and never once got the HOTOIL warning so I assumed all is working well..... But now I noticed today that my plastic PA speaker mounted on the underside of the hood as deformed/melted off the metal mounting braket.

So the engine bay is getting HOT. Anyone know what the issue might be and what I can do to remedy the problem...... Heat= bad news for long term health of the engine

I have a Crown Vic that did this and it was low on coolant. Turned out the plastic intake was leaking. When the engine got so hot the computer shuts down accessoires to try and cool it down. Once it is back into normal range it would kick the accessories back on. That was a Ford I am new to Mopar but maybe some where to start. Good luck.

Thats certainly hotter than it should be. You haven't been playing in the mud lately, have you. If so its possibly plugged the radiator.

I just spent four days wheeling in Big Bend National Park. I have a picture of the temp gauge showing 122 degrees. Even if we assume that's 10 degrees off, it was effin' HOT out there. I watched the engine temp like a hawk and it NEVER went above the half-way mark.

There's something wrong with your Jeep.

x2 start hosing the radiator out, sounds like you got it plugged good.

+1. Low coolant, plugged radiator, bad coolant cap, check the obvious first.

The fan is kicking in just fine and the coolant level is acceptable.

HOWEVER.....

I rinsed out the raditator with a hose and dirt poured out. I cleaned it out til water ran clear. Although I hadn't been playing in the mud for some time but I guess it just built up over all the trips.

SO....I took it for the a long test run which it would have heated up but the needle didn't budge from center. The lesson is: clean out your raditator after every trip. I also say an increase in fuel economy.....god I feel dumb
