Default Hot Oil

Yesterday while driving in the sand I had the Hot Oil light come on. Why would this happen and what is the proper procedure after this happens, another words what should I do? Can this hurt my jeep.?

Yes, it can hurt your automatic transmission.
When it happens, all you can do is stop what you were doing until it cools off.

Install a transmission cooler in-line with the factory cooler.

What were the circumstances of your sand running?
4hi, 4lo, what gear were you in, etc.
Include a description of your Jeep.

Yes. I forgot to turn the eps off and the thing bogged down trying to get power. I got to the hard top and pulled over to let it cool. Did I hurt my jeep?

Thats it, I was in loose sand with the eps on. The motor died down. I was going fine but the hot oil light came on.

Oh ok. It is a 2009 4 door with 315 tires and 3.75 gears. Here is a link to the photos of it.

auto trans + 35's + stock gears + 4HI + sand = incinerate

Either go 4LO or get some 5.13's

Have fun.
