Default How bad is rubbing with 33's on stock suspension?

I know this has hashed around alot not only here but other sites as well. I have an X model with 32"s and the mopar bumpers. I really want to move up to 33"s but also don't want to fool around with the stock suspension. (I know, I know its just me!) I have read that there will be some rubbing at full flex on the air dam but how much rubbing? what do I need to do to run 33"s other than add a lift? Please help!

Depending on what 33" tire you get, you may see rubbing on the air dam at a full turn and definitly on the fenders at a full flex. To run 33's without any rubbing, you will need to install a 2" budget boost (coil spacers). With this simple and cheap lift, you won't have any problems.

Default remove the air dam!

i have 33 wrangler mtr's on pro comp 8089 wheels and it seems to fit perfectly! barely any rubbing offroad. i just removed the front air dam cuz i think its ugly. that way on the street, you will not have any rubbing at all.

The bump stops (or extensions) that come with this kit prevent the rubbing on the fender at full flex? It would seem to me that coil spacers alone would not prevent rubbing. Since I am asking you to provide more information, can you also provide info about where the tires hit the fender?

Anyone else have a picture?

I will have my new wheels and tire on Monday.

I got the 16" x 8" ProComp 7189's (4.5" BS) with Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75/16

These messure out to 32.8 inches by 11.5 inches.

The stock tires on my Sahara are about 32.1 by 10.5.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

The stock wheel has a backspace of 6.25 (I think) . The backspace on my new wheel is 4.5 inch. I know the tire might stick out about an inch past the wheel flare.
But I don't expect any rubbing. I also don't do any harsh rock craws. I should be ok for trail rides.

I will post more information after I have them onfor a while.

I might do a 2" lift in the future but I only have 900 mile on it right now. I have spent more money on mods than i have on fuel. I need to slow down. After I get the lift, stubby front bumper, rear bumper with tire carier, heated seats, soft top, hoist to take of the hard top, then I might regear and go to 35", then I might need a larger lift, I am going to be in big trouble with the Wife.

My front tires just touch the bumper wings at full stuff with sway bar disconnected. Hence the LoD bumper order!

I assume you mean it is rubbing on the anti-sway bar at full wheel lock?

What do you mean "on mild grade changes". When you hit a dip?
