Default How To Change Out Gas Shocks ???

I have OEM non-gas shocks in my 07 JK right now. Can I do this in my driveway? I can see that its easy to take them off but do I need a jack or anything? If I plan to get a Budget Boost later will this affect the size that I need?

Also, I do 100% street driving so what are the best and softest shocks for street? I'm looking for something to ABSORB bumps - go over them like they are not even there. I hear Old Man Emu are soft. What do you recommend?

With the BB I think you need stock extensions.

But just to change the shocks you can do it without a jack with the Jeep parked in the garage.

The amount of choices out there is vast.

I have the ProComp shocks and they are stiff as plywood on the streets.

I was thinking for my next set I would go with either the Bilsteins or maybe even the rancho 9000XLs with the MyRide control module. But that's just a dream

I love my OME shocks. I don't think you'd regret those for a second. You can change shocks with your OEM jack, but I'd suggest jack stands for a little added safety.

I've never used a jack or jack stands for changing shocks. Shocks are actually very easy to compress and extend by hand.

Love my OME shocks. Great for street driving. I'm was TOTALLY WRENCH NOOB and I installed shocks on my own. I took tires off, one at a time. Just need a good assortment of wrenches and sockets.

Do it..you'll be happy

Yeah sounds like a plan. There are some OME's called sport. I wonder what the difference is. I'm guessing I will have to have a mechanic install the 2.5 BB.

Yeah I would do that but I live in city with nowhere to store the tools once I'm done with them.
