how do you keep your lights yours?
hello,
i have had my house and car broken into so i am not too trusting of people. i just purchased some rigid dually led lights and would like to mount them to windshield mounts. rigid industies offers a security nut kit to help keep them secure. but what do i do about the two allen screws that mount the brackets to the windshield? anyone can just remove the brackets? any ideas? thanks

they do make security versions of the torx bolts in the header. you could just replace both sets and then they would have to have the right bit for either to remove. would make it a bit harder. but seriously who walks around with a t25 ratchet.
I have had my vehicles broken into too but now I just pay extra for my insurance and have a rider on my auto policy for the mods if something gets stolen/vehicle gets totaled its just too much to worry about anymore.
Good luck.

Try using stainless steel button socket screws and Red Loc-Tite. The Loc-Tite will slow them down and likely cause the drive on the screws to strip out. The good news is your lights will still be there the bad news is the screws are a real bitch to remove.
For Rigid lights they have security nut kits, and Vision X lights usually work with the Hella Barri-nut kit. Swing by a local ACE Hardware - they should have tamper resistant nuts that will work.

Got to love being so close to the border with our friends. The only thing I would say about making them a lot harder to steal is the possibility of doing a lot more damage trying to steal them or vandalizing the vehicle in spite. The torx idea is a good idea.
Depends if you ever plan on taking them off yourself.
You could use true one-way screws. The type that have a flat edge in the thightening direction and a 45 degree ramp in the other direction. I f you put them on with locktite, the only way to get them off is to drill them and EZ out them, or put a nut over them and tack weld to the head of the screw through the middle of the nut.
You also might want to replace the door bolts with ones with tamper proof hex head ones. A thief might have a tamper proof torx wrench, but no one carries around a tamper proof hex key set.
