Default How High

Alright guys -- I'm sure that this thread has been posted too many times to count, but I'm new and desperately need expert opinions. Here goes.....what extra work/cost does it take to get a JK 4-door to a 6" lift instead of a 4" lift? If there is quite a bit of extra work, will 37" tires fit on a 4" lift or am I limited to 35" tires? Considering a 17" wheel, but not sure what width I would have to go with or backspacing, etc. Please help!

in my opinion it takes the same amount of work. cost is minor difference just the few hundred or less in kit price difference. 6" lift is huge i would go 4". you can run 37's on flat flares and 3" of actual lift. 4" is more like 5" when it is all said and done with most lift companies. either way you will need the same componets to make it ride nice on the road.

Why not start with the FAQ's (stickied to the top of this modified area)

Lots of info about lift heights vs tire heights, and wheel backspacing concerns, and which components you will want for various lift heights, and gearing recommendations, and, and, and...

i'm currently running a 6" lift with 37's, it looks nice, but with high winds, its all over the road at times.

i'm debating on whether or not to go down to a 4" lift and add flat fenders

If going with a 6" lift, is there a particular brand that is better than others? Some of the lift kits out there seem to be unreasonably priced. I'm assuming that 37" tires will not fit on a 4" lift without rubbing somewhere? Thanks for the replies!

There are options for running 37's without a sky-high lift. If you do go big, don't go cheap!!!! You'll be needing all 8 adjustable control arms, adj trackbars, both driveshafts, flip kit, etc...

3" of lift is all you need to run 35's and, depending on the lift make and type of 37's you plan on running, you do 37's on 4" and without too much fuss. 6" is A LOT of lift way more than i would recommend unless you're planning on running long arms.

I have the 6" procomp long arm. 8 link fully adjustable it rides great running 35 mt baja claws wind gusts are an issue but hey it's a jeep I can deal with that like they always say go big or go home if you think you want six inches get six inches if you go four and down the road want six then more money spent on the same thing twice just my opinion.
