Default how to measure lift height

Anybody here ever measure the distance between the fron/rear axle and the frame to determine the amount of lift? I have having problems figuring out the lift my Jk has. I bought it used. I was told by a "professional" it is between 3.5-4 inches, yet I look at pics on here and it does not look very similar.

Any one have a measurement of a stock axle to frame? Thanks!
