Default how to remove front axle shaft?

I am getting the squeek up front and want to take a look before any damage (or more damage) is done. Could not find a write up to pull the front shaft. If someone could provide the very basic steps, I can figure the rest out.

I know that the brake assemble has to go... but do I need to pull the u-joint or will the whole shaft assembly come out?

Once you pull the unit bearing the axle shaft will slide right out complete.

thanks david! If there are two bearings per shaft in the front... i am confident that the squeal is coming from the outer one in the hub. What are the odds that I will need to replace the bearing? the race?

What kind of squeak is it and what does that mean? I have a very high pitched but barely audible whistle and I am wondering if its this?

What do the axle shafts have to do with it?
