Default How to remove Front and Rear tow hooks?

I was going to remove my rear tow hook but found out when the two top bolts are all the way out, they seem to run into the bumper. Has anyone removed it? If so, did you have to remove part(s) of your bumper?

I didn't attempt the fronts but wondering the same. Do you need to remove your bumper or at least the plastic parts?

Thanks for any input!

Why would you want to remove them? Do you have a different form of recovery or tow point if stuck somewhere?

You need to completely remove the bumper to get them out. Their are eight more bolts inside the bumper and then you just pull the whole thing off. It's easy and shouldn't take 15 minutes.

No, the 8 bolts are for the front bumper- 4 per side and the whole piece slides off. The plastic bit comes off of the hooks and away from the tiny metal channel behind it.

I don't recall the rear being too tough at all- 3 bolts I think. One on the bottom and two on the inside of the framerail.

Ok thanks!

What's odd about the rear is the bottom bolt came out fine. The side two unscrew to a point but hit the bumper and won't unscrew all the way. I thought it was odd but figured they must have put it on before the rest of the bumper.

It's been a while since I did my rear hook, so the rear bumper may have to come off. I pulled mine off early on in the jeep's life so it's been a while since I've messed with it. The front bumpers.....I help pull them off about every other month.
