So I'm looking at price and durability. Get the most bang for my buck. Powder coating is not an issue for me. It's what is gonna work and be the best for me. Looking to see if anyone is running a set of hummer wheels and or the walker Evans? I hear good things about both but looking for some advice?
This isnt really an apples to apples comparion.
First and foremost, recentere d H1 wheelsare 16.5" diameter and walkers come in 15", 17" and 20" diameters. Going with the H1 wheels will lock you into a smaller selection of tires. You can always get used military tires for very cheap but they will have a stiffer sidewall compared to other tires out there. This is just someting to consider when comparing the two.
H1 are a double beadlock and going with a military tire will probably yield a slightly heavier package then a walker with an mtr for example.
Both are very strong and proven

i guess my another question is how does the hummer military tires run besides a stiffer side wall. i mean if the military uses them they must be good in some other ways right? i also am aware of the tire size and being limited however they maybe cheaper then (for example) running toyo open country mud terrians everytime and paying 300-400 dollars a tire. you can get military a set of 4 for 100 a piece if you shop in the right place. same thing with the beadlocks. i guess what i need is to get a comparision of the 2 side by side. wheres top gear when u need them? haha

You do realize that the Hummer bolt pattern and the JK bolt pattern are different right? So you are going to have to get the Hummer wheels converted to the JK bolt pattern or find some sort of spacer that allows you to convert to the Hummer bolt pattern. With so many good options for beadlocks out there that will bolt right up to the JK I don't know why you would limit your tire options by going with Hummer wheels but to each his own. Make sure you post up pics either way you go so that we can all admire them!
Also have you looked into the Hutchinson Rock Monster wheels? They are the same price as the Walker Evans wheels, are DOT legal (being as you are in CA), are a double bead locking wheels like the Hummer wheels, and are used by the military. Kind of a best of both worlds scenario if you ask me. Just a thought.

I considered doing this but I wanted to get the lightest wheel/tire combo possible, didnt want to be limited to 16.5 tires and wanted a softer sidewall so I ended up with Walkers and 37" MTRs but I spent ALOT more then going the recentered H1 route.
