Default Hy-lift steering mod

Hello,

Having a go at making a hy-lift steering kit, as mine is right hand drive, i will have to cut and weld the arm so the ball joint points down, thats the easy bit.
Machining the tapered insert not a problem, will make it 15/16 o/d press fit, and drill the arm to suit, but what is causing a problem is the taper, anybody know the angle, i make it 6.7 degrees, bit of an odd angle???? so hoping somebody knows the correct angle.

Default Hi Lift

Teraflex sells an insert that has the stock taper. Have you considered trying a stock lhd draglink?

One of the problems with buying from over the pond is the exchange rate is poor for us. I know its only a little part, but I have an engineering workshop, so making it is not a problem, just didn't have anything really accurate to measure angle.

Had thought about LH drive arm, but again would have to order from over the pond, so cut, spin and weld will do nicely, will add some strengthening as well.

Thanks for the comments.

AEV has a kit to do exactly what you want and it is for RHD vehicles. Probably would be cheaper and easier to do this than to re-engineer it yourself.
