Default Hydro-locked???

so its finally my turn to hydro my motor, 2 weeks before the snorkel install.
so motors is out and apart. broke #6 rod and piston.
fortunatly it happened at idling in 4 low and didn't damage the block at all. (amazing)
gonna pull all pistons, re-ring them all with a quick hone job to remove the rust and install the one new rod and piston and hopefully be back on the road for under $500.

was wondering has anybody else got away with this or does it usually damage the block?

no grooves still have good cross-hatching. was told I can't bore it out as there are no oversized pistons yet.

would love to send block and heads out but money is tight. gonna give it try as labour is free and I get a good deal on parts.

If there is no block damage then there should be no problem.

Default hydro

my block was replaced under insurance since it happened on a "public maintained road that was flooded"

would suck to tear down, and put everything back on only to find out something was damaged in block when rod bent/snapped.

good luck!

If anything got damaged I should see it. it did happen at idle. like I said labour is free and parts are less than $500. if any problems do arise after the rebuild I'll play stupid and bring it in under warranty or insurance and say as quoted " it happened on a flooded public maintnance road"
