Default Hypertech programmer with unichip?

Sorry if this sounds like a double post, however I got today the hypertech programmer for the JK and also the Unichip power module also for the JK. I installed the Unichip on one of my JK's which runs a set of 35" tires and 4.88R&P also already calibrated the spedo/odo via procomp programmer. When I finished the installation I went offroad (fueling Oct 98) I didn't feel that much of power gain even with the A/B fuel mode switch

The question: If I connect the pro-comp programmer again and put the JK back to stock. Then REMOVE the unichip (or maybe removing the unichip before putting the JK back to stock). And then use the new HYPERTECH programmer to boost the JK performance (The Pro-comp is not the same as the hypertech although almost same part # Hypertech 52001 and Procomp 52001-1)

Shoul I remove the unichip before programming? I also tried before the Jet stage II performance chip and I think it gives more power than the unichip! did I do something wrong? what do you guys think og the Unichip? its about 150$ more than the Jet II ??

Hehh Heh, you got a lot goin on. You don't want to stack anything with the Unichip or the Hypertech for that matter. I've run the Uni, Hyper and the Jet Stage 1 and 2 and the Hypertech seems to outperform all. I had better gains with the Unichip but it never sat well with the computer. As Matty said I would periodically get the CI light. You definitely want to bring the vehicle back to stock before reprogramming with another programmer. Remember to take off the negg battery terminal and any fuses associated with satellite radio or aftermarket sound systems. The Unichip is a simple plug in so I would remove that and then program with the Hypertech programmer. Hope this helps...it was sort of difficult weeding through your question.

Mine will only through a MIL when I have the switch in the High Performance setting (-) and I run 87 octane.

You must use 93 or better for the (-) setting.

thank you for the reply and sorry for not being clear with my question. I will do this tomorrow and remove the hypertec, bring the car back to stock using the procomp and then use the hyeprtech programmer, test the car and then plug back the unichip.

I sometines get the engine check light but that's only when using the B position on the fuel switch (unichip sw). I have used both 95 and 98 fuel and there is no gain I can feel.

Also interesting when I used the procomp programmer to fix the speedometer (I run 37" tires with 4.88R&P) and I had to enter tire size 35 only then I get the correct speed (took lots of testing to get that right) anyone with similar issues? what fuel would you use??

When programming tire size use the measurement from the ground to the top of the tread. My 37x14.50 r 17 MT Toyo only measure 35.85 with that being said I program it for 36.25 to make up for my incorrect speedo from the factory.
