Default I am overwhelmed.

OK - after my first couple of months reading here, I had my mind made up to put a TeraFlex BB on my Jeep as a simple (and inexpensive) way of getting to 33's.

Then, I talked with a guy at 4wd.com who said I'd regret ANY of the BB's because they all are suspect and lead to bumpsteer, 'death wobble', et al. He also said I'd likely regret not going to 35's since with 33's, I'd only be adding an inch. I agreed about the 35's.

He suggested the FT 3" econo lift. I was all set to order til I read on here that I needed an adjustable front track bar. Someone told me without one, I'd have constant alignment/tire wear issues. To add one raises the price almost 200.00. In that price range are MANY options.

Now I have no clue what lift to purchase, what I actually need or how much is worth spending. I think I need a personal advisor.

Who do you guys trust to give you consistently reliable, accurate information?

that is same thing i face... i want 33's, but will end up wanting bigger tires and the higher a lift... the more you have to add. 2.5 seems to be best bet unless you have 4 door in which you could do a 3" lift that w/o having to add even more

i have 33" with 2" BB from Rubicon Express...and i have NO alignment issues. The shifting of your axle on the BB is so minimal, you won't even notice them. I have mine for almost a year now, and it's been great....even on a long highway drive.

To say a BB will cause death wobble would be saying any lift would cause it. To be honest, a 3" lift would contribute to it more than a 2.5" BB. As long as your drag link and track bar are paralell, and everything is tight and installed properly, you won't have death wobble. Once you reach the 4" range, death wobble becomes more prevelant due to the increased angles.

You can fit 33's without a lift, but if you choose to lift and want something in the 2.5 - 3" range, the TF BB is an excellent choice. If you can spend a little more, go with an Old Man Emu lift. Oh, and I'd find a different shop.

The sales men is doing exactly what sale men are supposed to do. Sell you the more expensive product.

BB are a great way to start, I say this because you can always use the spacers later if you want a taller lift (3" springs+2"spacers ect...).

Basicly ANY lift, no matter how big or small WILL change your alignment spec.'s. It dosent make a difference if you have spacers or full blown coilovers, 2 inches is 2inches no matter how you look at it. With that said if you want your alignment spec's perfect then get some adj. trac. bars and control arms.

However with only 2" of lift, its not going to make a big enough difference for you to even notice it. The only thing I would suggest is AFTER the lift is done, take the Jeep to a good alignment shop and have them set the toe-in/out (witch shouldent change on a JK) and have them center the steering wheel.

Cool 33s are Good To Go

Read my sig to see my specs, but my goal was a balance between capability and daily driver. I couldn't be happier with my Jeep. In a few years, after the warranty is done, I may go to 35s. I just didn't want to get into things like regearing, new drive shafts, or risk breaking an axle (I've got the front 30, since it's an X).

Keep in mind, although 35s may add a LITTLE capability, the difference between 33s and 35s rests mostly with the driver. In my opinion.. which my wife tells me isn't worth a whole lot anyway.

Oh yeah, 6 months and 8 or 9000 miles later - not a hint of "death wobble" or any drive issues!!

35's usually come with a lot more work than just adding wheels and tires. You're going to probably want to regear due to the loss in performance. Also, be prepared to shell out much more money for those tires.

As far as lifts go. On a 2dr, anything larger than 3inches of lift usually means new drive shafts as well.

As said, the BB's work well for many people here. There haven't been many issues with any.

I recommend visiting one of our sponsors, like www.Northridge4x4.com and ordering your parts through them. The install is said to be simple with basic tools, so do it yourself to save time and money.

I added a 2" BB and shocks with no problems at all. I did all the work myself. As mentioned earlier in the thread once you go 33 or taller (tires) you are getting into a whole different set of issues and requirements. My bigger question is, even with lower gears, does the JK have enough torq and HP to make up the difference. There is no doubt that the big tires look great and if you are into the rocks make a big difference...but for most of us out here I say stay with 32' or 33" and maximize what you have! Just my $.02.
