Default I have some Superchips questions!

Ok so I know there are a million threads out there about Superchips and Hypertech chips and what not but I have a few questions that remain unanswered for me. I am interested in one of these chips, they make me drool. When people are talking about there 2-4mpg gain on either is that through the performance tunes or the mileage saving? Also I am interested in getting the new RIPP headers/cat package...will a Superchip work with this? I've heard that the hypertechs don't work with headers...so unleash your input guys!
thanks!

Jesse

IIRC, Superchips specifically does not recommend their programer for long tube headers.

I also have trueflow xdi and a magnaflow. I know the maganflow would cause any problem but on the superchips website it has an "x" next to CAI support. How many guys out there are running CAIs and a Superchip? I'm really curious about this header question also.

I've been running the superchip 87 tune now for a couple tanks of fuel.....I maybe get 1 mpg better then I did without it. I'm completely stock...well, for at least a couple more weeks.

With that being said, the performance gains are very noticeable.....I now get a real response from my gas pedal, can cruise up hills, pass people, and beat people off the line.

Maybe my enjoyment of the increased power has changed my driving style....and therefore I'm not reaping the mpg benefits of others?

Either way, wouldn't drive without it now....makes a difference!

I have really been enjoying my superchips...that's all that needs to be said about that.

Direct quote from superchips manual:

"Your Jeep Flashpaq Programmer WILL work with the following:
  • Short or normal tube headers.
  • Snorkels.
  • An engine thats has been changed to a 5.7L HEMI, as long as the factory HEMI ECU is installed.
  • Aftermarket cat-back exhaust and cold air intake kits."

"For optimum Jeep performance, Superchips does NOT recommend the following:
  • Long tube headers.
  • Over-bored or stroke engines."

Dammit! I wonder why...I also wonder what the result is if you DO infact install long tubes..

I had the same issue. I did the exhaust and Flashpaq around the same time and didn't see a huge difference the first few tanks of gas (MPG) but I realized I was driving a lot faster. I was running 75-80 instead of 65-70, harder take-offs, etc... I made a concious effort to drive like I used to after that and the mileage jumped ~2MPG. The power difference is huge from idle on up. I wish I done it the day I bought the Jeep instead of waiting 20,000 miles. Looking at my mileage history I would estimate ~1MPG from exhaust and ~1.5MPG from the Flashpaq. The Flashpaq made a much bigger power difference.
