Default I need help with builing a kit

I know a guy that has teraflex 4" lift coils and track bar relocation brackets. He took them off of his jeep when he sold it. But thats pretty much it. What I need to know is what all I'm gonna need to make it work. I know shocks but what else may I need?

With a lift of 4" you will need something to correct your axle geometry in the wheel wells. Most likely some adjustable control arms. I think people try to get by with the front lower adjustables and the rear uppers if I am not mistaken (if you only do 4...WOL would probably recommend all 8 control arms ). You will also need longer sway bar links or sway bar disconnects that are longer, longer brake lines, most likely a front adjustable track bar, and aftermarket drive shafts ( depends on if you have 2 door or 4 door and if you get 4 inches of true lift) .

So to answer your question....you will need a lot. 4" of lift is not a trivial thing on a JK. Most of the 2.5" kits can get away with a budget boost or simple brackets for trackbars and control arm relocation. But once you get to 3.5" and above, you start to open up a can of worms of things you will need to upgrade to get a ride that is something you can live with.

Do your research on the kits from Teraflex, Rock Krawler, Rancho, Rough Country, etc. Most of them have base kits that are very affordable. But its the things like extended brake lines, new control arms, and drive shafts that some guys forget about until they have to shell out a $1000-2000 extra to do a 4" lift right.

Be careful with track bar relocation brackets they can pit alot of additional stress on the axle brackets there have been more than a couple of reports of failed axle mounts using relocation brackets. Adjustable trackbars are a much better option

Ok. So can I buy those pieces separately apart from a kit. Cause I'm going to probaly use bilstein or fox shocks so I wont be using the shocks that come with a kit either. And he has the track bar relocation brackets.

True, however TeraFlex rear trackbar brackets do not have a history of failing. Now a adjustable trackbar is great because it will allow the axles to be re-centered correctly. But you will want to use the bracket along with the adjustable trackbar. The bracket helps to correct the geometry and the trackbar helps to re-center the axles.

dirty_silver, you can buy any piece from any TeraFlex lift that you want. The image below is a TeraFlex 4" 8 Flex Arm kit.

Wow! this is all overwhelming. I dont see how anyone can decide what suspension to go with. So basic question would it just be easier and cheaper to buy a kit vs. trying to buy the pieces I need?

Why are you choosing 4"? For looks or are you going to be running huge tires? You can run 33s stock and 35s with a 2.5". I think you can even run 37s on a 2.5" with flat fenders. That's if you didn't know that already. It seems the best deals come from buying a kit. But I haven't looked into the 4" kits much myself. I'm quite happy on 33s and 2.5" TF.

With all the driveline stuff, no it doesn't look very practical or affordable. But, if that's what you want to do, then there are plenty of people here with the knowledge to assist you. Most of the information is probably also already in the threads, if one took the time to read them. My build needed to stay a little cheaper, so I stuck with what was easiest. I will be adding control arms etc... Later on, but right now it's gonna stay the way it is.
