I need some education regarding gear driven limited slip differentials
I'm considering buying true trak diffs, a gear driven LSD. Once a wheel is slipping and the diff engages power is then split between the wheels on that axle. Does the slipping wheel continue to spin more than the other? once the other wheel engages does it not behave like a locked diff? i know that lockers are what all you rock guys use. but what im wondering is...
if i get gear driven LSD's, is my rig useless on the rocks?
I also want my rig to be driveable on a somewhat regular basis.

No. It isn't useless, just not as effective as a true locker. A little brake pressure will 'lock' it up to some extent to help get you through.
Completely drivable at any time, performs about 1000% better than auto-lockers or an engaged selectable on the slick stuff. (I am overstating it a bit, but I was much more happy with the front TT on icy mountain freeways than the detroit that it replaced.)

That is being talked about in another current thread. Dynatrac indicates that on a nissan titan with truetracs, the esp will in fact add brake pressure to lock it up and drive it off of a jackstand. Another person in the thread is having them installed this week and will do some testing, and hopefully provide some JK-specific feedback.
