Default I need some help.

I'm a pretty savvy mechanic. It's what I make my living doing. I have the 09 jku rubicon. My problem is. 8 don't have any clue what size shocks it should have on it I've gone thru 2 sets in rear for over articulating. I also don't know what size the lift is as I bought it used any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pull a rear coil and shock, and set the jeep down until you hit bumpstop or until the tire touches the body. Measure between the upper and lower shock mount. This is your compressed shock length.

Reinstall the rear coil and remove the rear tire. Now let the suspension droop as much as possible before the coil starts to shift or unseat. Take the same measurement. This will be your extended length.

Just remember, if the tire contacted the body before bottoming out the bumpstop, you will need to add more bumpstop to prevent overcompressing the shock.

This should help you figure out what size lift you got. Measure and do the math. Then you can figure out what size bump stops to run to prevent damage to your shocks as mentioned above.
