Was I supposed to extend/relocate my brake lines when I did my lift?

Default Was I supposed to extend/relocate my brake lines when I did my lift?

Read in another thread someone had a brake line relocation bracket on their spacer lift.

I did my rock krawler stock mod kit with bilstein 5100s like 1.5 years ago now, and the brake line was basically holding the tires weight when I had the jeep up on the lift.

Was I supposed to extend the brakelines or get some sort of bracket that I should get now and fix this?

Also noticed people just unbolt the line and leave it lose to gain slack. Is this a bad idea?

We would not leave the brake line bracket just flopping around. The best option is to install a set of longer brake lines.

I just installed the RK 2.5 Flex kit and have the braided break lines, I think your fine with stock if you aren't doing any major wheeling, but at full droop / flex you may pop a break line on the front if you don't replace the stock lines. I wouldn't get a relocation bracket, but rather just replace the stock lines with new extended braided break lines. just my two cents.

if you aren't doing any major wheeling, you "should" be fine. But as stated above, at full flex you may have an issue. Might be best to just extend them.

Definitely not doing any hardcore wheeling. Very small things at best.

I have them attached with the stock bracket, should I atleast unbolt that or just leave everything as is? I mean its been fine for 1.5 years now but if I have to lift the vehicle from the frame, the lines can stretch, I.E a car lift.

I put the same lift on and extended the brake lines, but it seems like the electrical cables for the antilock system are now possibly too short if I start to flex. Anyone do anything with these?

Just follow the wires till the frame where they are held in place with some plastic fasteners. Pull the fasteners off and let the wires flap in the breeze. They will be fine and it gives you plenty of room for flex.

Doh! Obvious in hindsight. Thanks!
