Default ICON lift

Narrowing down my choices on lifts. Does anyone have any 1st hand knowledge on ICON lifts. From what Im reading they used to be Donahoe. If no one knows anything about them Ill either be the guinea pig on here for it or scratch it off the list. The place Im going to get my lift installed has these on their site.

I know that they make some pretty good coil over suspensions, When I was researching lifts for my FJ everyone recommended ICON or what used to be Donahoe...as far as JK's I didn't know they had them. I know that Toyota backs them as a vendor too...they raced a FJ in the Baja 1000 with Donahoe suspensions. It was pretty cool, only thing is they are kind of on the pricey side. Some people say you can find a comparable product for cheaper.

I think they had some personal/internal problems...and have since been restructured. I would worry too much about the company being around if I had an issue. There is a lot of companies out there without their personal business aired out everywhere... I would go with a stronger more stable company personally.

I do not know the company personally and have no experience with them myself. Their products are similar to others available at less cost and from companies known to be stable though IMO.

It did seem pretty expensive. Ill have to compare it to the other lifts and what you get for the price. Its $4200.00 with the adjustable track bars. Heres a write up on it.

Thats something to think about. I guess Donahoe was bought by ICON.

Considering the price, I would really take to heart what bigbluejk had to say... I can only imagine what $4200 would buy you with a company like TeraFlex... Plus, just go through other posts and see how many TeraFlex has helped with...their customer service is great and their products are both high quality and reliable.

Also, check out wayoflife's setup. I'm not privy to how much the Off Road Evo set up costs, especially once you add in a long arm from another company, but the flex he gets is pretty impressive.

Good luck choosing!!!

I was in the same situation as you, there was not a lot of information on that lift kit. I decided to go ahead and get the Icon lift. One of the reasons was the price point, it was on sale at Off Road Wharehouse for 2100, It was 2600 installed by ORW. That included everything, shocks, front and rear adjustable track bars, 8 adjustable arms, coils, etc.

I am very happy with the lift and have no regrets. The ride quality is better than stock and it flexes really well on trails. The hardware is really beefy. The only issue that I ran into is the heim joints get a little squeaky after a trail, but if you clean them off, the squeak goes away. On another note, the heim joints really help with articulation.

If you are going to pay over 4k for the lift, you may want to go with Teraflex, simply because you will know that they will be around for a while.

I would hit up ORW and see what kind of deal they are having on these lift kits.

PM me if you have any questions, I would be happy to help a fellow jeeper.

Im sure they are pretty good but just not enough info out there and feedback to make me feel comfortable getting it. OK4WD in Jersey told me the reason it was so expensive is because they use American steel. That sale price seems good but 4200 is definitely too much for what you are getting. The other companies you get alot more for that price range. If everyone was ranting how great the Icon lift is I would pay the money. But like I said just not enough to really base a decision off of. I appreciate all the input though.

Wow I just checked out that website for the hell of it. Now the kit is $1900 plus another 10% off. Thats a big drop in price. That alone kinda scares me. Not to say its not a good lift. Just company wise why are they selling them so cheap now.
