Default Idea for spring/summer

So after looking around at what is available from the jeep community a thought occurred to me and I was wondering if anyone had tried this...

I want to take a canvas tarp roughly the same size as the flat section of my 4 door. Cut small slits and use something like spider balls to bungee the tarp to the roll cage. Waterproof the canvas with camp dry. I should then have a semi breathable sun shade which i can fold/roll to whatever part of the passenger compartment I like. It should also cut down on the amount of water in the event of a rain shower. I would like to then get a small set of cargo netting to cover the sloped part of the roll cage above the cargo area to help keep things from flying out of the jeep on the highway. (Though the netting is TBD)

I will look into cost but I think I've got the tarp laying in the attic and spider balls are about a buck each so this should be a pretty cheap job.

Are you doing this to save money? Or a "do-it-yourself" project? I'm only asking because everything you are describing already exists. Between bikini and brief tops to the netting, you can get the stuff everywhere.
Sorry if i'm missing what your getting at.

Basically its somewhere between a bikini and a mesh top the weave of the canvas isn't as dense as a bikini would be, but it isn't as loose as like a mesh top so I should be able to waterproof it plus i should have added uses unlike a bikini I can move it around to cover the cargo area and the back seat or roll it to cover just the fronts and I won't need to fiddle with a header bar

And the netting i plan on getting from dirtydog later
