Default Ideas for mounting rear lights

I am looking for ideas for mounting rear lights on my JKU. These lights are for more light when backing up, work light, light for hooking up a trailer in the dark, etc. FYI - I have the factory rear bumper and spare.

- I've looked at the Rigid rear tail light mounts as an option, but would like some more ideas. If you have these please let me know how you like them?

- Anybody ever use this? Rugged Ridge 11217.02 - Rugged Ridge Spare Tire Light Mount - Quadratec You can have the license plate piece there or not. Could leave the license plate piece off and make a simple cross bar to mount light onto. Thoughts?

I've searched through a lot of forum posts. Just looking for some more ideas. Is there other light mounts available? Mounts for other things that could be used for mounting lights?

Thanks.

I used a CB antenna mount from Arizona Rocky road. Works perfectly with my Rigid light. I did add a cross bar because it does shake a bit.

I did this a few months ago. One of my favorite mods; it's slick, works very well, and easy to do. Not inexpensive, but worth it in my opionion.

These look like a real nice addition! Definitely on my 'must do' list

On your wiring for these, if I wanted to be able to switch them as well. Could I just use a splice to connect the new lights harness to the existing wiring and continue on with the new wire harness up to my sPod?

I'd imagine you could tap a live wire with a fuse, relay, and switch to the positive wire. I'm not too much of an electrician; maybe someone here could chime in with a quick schematic to do it without blowing anything up. I'd be interested in tapping in a separate switch.

Unfortunately this will not work. The lights on the JK are controlled via CANBUS. (Not a 12V hot, but rather a pulsing square-wave that has an RMS voltage near 12V. Taping the hot can cause a CANBUS fault and will cause relay chatter. If you tap the hot you will need a diode and cap on the relay to keep the relay from chattering and protect the CANBUS circuit.

Edit: I will draw a diagram of the circuit and parts you will need as soon as I can and post it here.

I run rear bumper-less, so I just mounted LED lights on the cross-member. (NOTE: I have them wired with the protection I mentioned above so they can be manually turned on or they turn on automatically when I go in reverse.) These things will give you a tan
