Default If the OD is the same?

Don't think I have seen this question.

I have 16" steelies and I'm getting some 17" rubi takeoffs with tires. The OD between the two is 29" and 32" respectively (probably didn't have to state that). My question is, if I were to get tires on the 16" rims that had the same OD as the 17" rims and tires would I still have to reprogram the jeep to get proper miles and speed if I swapped them?

It doesn't seem like I would have to since the OD would be the same, at least that's the logic going through my head anyone have the answer or just want to agree with me.

Little lost on the question but if your tire size changes then go to the dealer and have them change it

Correct, as long as OD is the same there is no ratio change.

No, you won't have to reprogram. A 32" tire is a 32" tire regardless if it is on a 15", 16", 17", or 18" wheel.

No, you'r tire revolutions per minute would remain the same if you kept the same outside diameter tire regardless of rim size. Therefore your speedometer, and odometer would still remain accurate. Your gas mileage MIGHT change due to different tire/wheel weight , or different rolling resistance if you used a different tread.

I'm reading this as you have 16" tires that are 29" diameter now. You thinking about putting tires that would equal the Rubicon tires (32") onto your Current 16" wheels.. If you go from a 29" diameter tire to a 32" you should program to correct the difference.

Here's a screen shot of the sizes the dealer can program...it is probably cheaper to buy an aftermarket programmer and do it yourself..

Yes I am getting rubi takeoffs and putting them on the jeep and I going to the deeler to have them prgram it accordingly.

and thank you for confirming that as long as the OD remains the same further programming will not be necessary.

Are they doing it for free? If they charge, you would probably be better off just getting a ProCal.
